In commemorating the incredible life of an American fighter ace and commander, AVI-8’s P-51 Mustang story continues with a wearable tribute to the exploits and achievements of Colonel Don Blakeslee during WW2.
Using design cues from the P-51 Mustang planes introduced under Blakeslee’s command, AVI-8’s latest creation is a unique tribute to one of the greatest heroes of WW2.
Fluidly streamlined and built to last, a 43mm stainless steel case flows and glides across the wrist with specific micro details that echo the
machining and features of the iconic P-51 Mustang.
Providing a clear window to the dial, a convex hardened mineral glass with anti-reflective coating sits atop the case bezel with tachymeter read out.
The pushers are custom built and shaped within the line of the wings and fuselage. A custom-built crown guard also features details that point to the engine exhaust of the P-51 Mustang.
With aviation detailing the focus, the dial of the Blakeslee Chronograph leans on both the inner and outer elements of the P-51 Mustang. An instrument panel inspired multi-layered dial with horizontal and vertical brushed finishing pairs both lumed baton indexes and Arabic indexes in a font inspired by the typography found on the plane’s body.
